Restoration Partners appoint Glyn Barker as Chairman of the new Advisory Board

Restoration Partners, the boutique technology merchant bank, is pleased to announce the appointment of former UK Vice Chairman of PwC, Glyn Barker, as Chairman of the newly created “Restoration Partners’ Advisory Board”.

Glyn Barker is currently Chairman designate of the law firm, Irwin Mitchell, a non-executive Director of Aviva plc and The Berkeley Group Holdings plc and a Trustee of English National Opera.

At PwC, he was most recently responsible for leading the executive team for Europe, Middle East, Africa and India. During his career at PwC, he has advised the Boards of a number of FTSE 100 companies and he was formerly the UK Managing Partner, UK Head of Assurance and a member of the UK Management Board. He also built PwC’s private equity focused Transactions business.

Glyn’s role as Chairman of the Advisory Board will be to put together a distinguished team of Board members with unique knowledge, skills and extensive networks to complement and assist Restoration Partners in its overall goal of building the UK’s preeminent technology merchant bank.

Commenting on the appointment, Restoration Partners’ Founder and Chairman, Ken Olisa, OBE, said: “We transform our clients’ technology into wealth. Glyn’s track record speaks for itself and, with his expertise and his global network of contacts, we will be a formidable force. Alongside his leadership of the Advisory Board, Glyn will also help Restoration Partners to widen our access to capital through the creation of an investment vehicle. I am delighted that Glyn has agreed to join us.”

Working with Restoration Partners, the Advisory Board will add firepower to the executive team. Additionally, it will use its reach and network to create a collective investment vehicle that Restoration Partners believes will be an innovative and even disruptive investment model to compete with both established investor clubs and small venture capital funds.

Glyn Barker added: “I have known Ken for a long time and am impressed by what he and the Restoration Partners team are doing to create wealth at the innovative edge of the European technology sector. As the tech market is being redefined by massive trends such as the Cloud and social networking there is a need for a London-based merchant bank to do what the City does best. I’m honoured to be asked to play a part in making it happen.”
